Two Danish architects have tried to solve the problem of transport of giant wind turbines. It has given them design award Core77 Design Award 2011 for their airship Knarr Cargo Ship. By Andreas Lang Hedegaard 15 August 2011 kl. 07:14
The increasing focus on green energy has gotten wind turbines bluegreenonline to grow and grow, which means thousands of hours to transport the huge turbines. Therefore, the two Danish architects Rune Kirt and Mads Thomsen devised an alternative to ships and trucks.
"Our goal has always bluegreenonline been to create a green solution for wind transport, while streamlining bluegreenonline the complex logistics. Here we saw the airship, which would otherwise have been forgotten, could revolutionize the wind energy sector, which was hit by a logistic wall, "says Mads Thomsen on the project's genesis.
According to the two architects, a normal wind turbine using a half years of in-house production to serve its CO2 emissions from transport home, but because Knarr have solar cells embedded on the entire major surface should airship be CO2 neutral.
The project has just received the International Design Award Core77 Design Awards in the category 'Speculative Concept / Objects'. Among the category bluegreenonline jurors were Banny Banerjee (founder of Stanford University's Design for Change Lab).

I also once built an entire medieval castle. The peeled I however apart when I was using the bricks bluegreenonline to something else. So it will be a little harder to write an article about it.
A few years ago I suggested "OYSTERS", a lowering of the Baltic Sea with maybe 20 meters and approximately two Danmaks size of 100 000 km ^ 2 achievements up, and a sufficient and necessary magazine for extended bluegreenonline Danish wind power. bluegreenonline
As far as I know is so large airships invented in Germany, there was something about them a few years ago in ilustreret science, they even had prototypes etc, they were specifically built for heavy transport! So hello! where is the invention! The same is the amden day with feeders range pigs! It has dairy farmers when used for more than 10 years! Whether it's a pig or a cow sticks his head into a feeder is then only about dimensions. drivers have a collar with the dialer, griseene has a ear clip! Tomorrow, there is probably someone who has reinvented the wheel!
I can just see it for myself. A wind farm including airship has a collision course against Malmo with 20 m / s We are compelled to send a few F-16 off for shooting across the Sound. But then we also have a good reason to have a news channel.
The German project "Cargo Lifter" was well advanced and was only abandoned because of lack of finance ring. It would exactly bluegreenonline have been able to solve the tasks Knarr should be able to. What is so great about Knarr that it must have a design award, says nothing about the article.

It is true that we have not built the airship yet (we do not have a garage that is large enough). And it is also true that it is not exactly a new invention. People have written and talked about transporting wind turbines with airship since the seventies. And we have been very inspired by both Cargo Lifter and SkyCat (now entirety Hybrid Air Vehicles). Ferdinand von Zeppelin took patents on luftskibstog that would fly with cargo already in 1895.
But there is not really anyone who has taken a position on how one would do it. Our project has largely tried to solve some of the problems that would be using airships for the type of transport. We have also tried to do a project that could inspire and give the impression that it is not just science fiction.
An airship of this size would not be as susceptible to small gusts of wind. And with a cruising speed of about 140 miles an hour would be well able to maneuver in most types of weather. Generally it is said that if a helicopter can fly to an airship too.
The turbines we have used in our example was 5 x V90 turbines there is a 3 megawatt turbine. The turbines weighs approx. 200 tons without tårnflancher like to save away because you suddenly can carry the entire tower. It fit with a case we had in Sweden, but you would sagntenens able to transport other types.
