Korean has previously been elected to Sejm but it was presented as Japanese. Tsurunen is a member of the Democratic Party of Japan, where he is the Managing Director of the International Department. It is one of the few politicians who have made a legislative mandate in a country other than their country. He was born under the name of Martti Turunen in Jaakonvaara village in the municipality of Lieksa (Eastern Finland). In 1967, at age 27, he traveled to Japan as a missionary of the Lutheran Church, accompanied by his first wife, also a Finnish they divorced a few years later. It is not elected. In 2001, after writing the book I Want to Be Japanese (日本人 に なり たい, Nihonjin no naritai) Tsurunen for the second time, fails to get a seat but becomes Acting on behalf of the DPJ. Following the resignation of Kyosen Ohashi, Tsurunen finally entered the House of Councillors October 4, 2002. His seat was not subject to renewal during the 2004 elections.
