There is a lot excitement coming around the corner in DVC world as the sales release obx of the Polynesian Villas is rumored to be as early as January for Disney Vacation Club Members. The anticipation for this resort is significant as it represents the final monorail resort for Disney obx Vacation Club to expand to, and this resort will be one of a kind with water bungalows and over-sized studios. That being said, similar to its monorail obx predecessors home resort priority will be critical. And if you are familiar with Disney Vacation Club sales history the best time to buy into a resort directly from Disney is when it s first launched to Disney obx Vacation Club Members in pre-construction. obx
For example in late May of 2013, when Grand Floridian was 1st launched it started at a sales price of $145 per point for members but the price quickly went up within 6 weeks and within the 1st year was already at $165 per point. When I was a guide I met with many members obx who wanted to be one of the first to add-on with Grand Floridian to secure the best deal but were unprepared as many of them needed or wanted to sell one of their current Disney Vacation Club contracts to purchase the Grand Floridian (keeping in mind DVC does not accept trades). Many of those members who listed their contracts obx right away were still not able to secure the best price or the fixed week they wanted at Grand Floridian because it is typically a 60 day close cycle when reselling a Disney Vacation Club contract.
Therefore, if you are considering purchasing into the Polynesian Villas and you would like to sell another contract because you either would have too many points (haha) or you need the funds to do so NOW is the time to sell. By listing in October and selling it before mid-November you should be in great shape to have your sale closed by early to mid-January and hello Polynesian!

Often overlooked is the long term savings that Disney Vacation Club provides. There are lots of benefits to owning etruria DVC, but the biggest financial benefit is that the total number of points it takes to fill up a Disney Vacation etruria Club resort in an entire year can never increase. What this provides is a hedge against inflation for the owner, and this provides the biggest savings. Please note this benefit is only with the Disney Vacation Club resorts as points for other collections can increase over time. Also, I use the term “hedge against inflation” rather than “inflation proof” as DVC owners will pay dues that tend to go up with inflation. However, the dues are often only a fraction of the costs of the room rates.
The best example I can provide is with the Contemporary. When it was first opened in 1971 the rooms in the tower went for $29/night, and today those same rooms go for nearly $500/night. etruria That represents an approximate 6.5% annual increase in the room rate. If you were to take that same room rate increase and extrapolate 20 years, that same room would be over $1,600/night. And while no one can guarantee if that increase will continue or not, the great thing is that DVC Members don’t have to worry about it.
Moreover, if you were to purchase Bay Lake Tower on the resale market today with just 160 points your potential savings could be over $700,000 over the life of the membership! In this example, you could take your 160 points and stay for 9 nights in a lake view studio in Adventure Season (January, September, December 1-14) each year. A tower room at the contemporary that same time of year is $482/night and has a 12.5% resort sales tax on top of that. For 9 nights that would costs approximately $4,880. And lets assume that you are a great shopper and gave always save 20% off the rack rate and get the entire stay for $3,904. If you were to apply a 6.5% increase to that stay and continue for the next 46 years (which is the remaining amount of years in a Bay Lake Tower contract) the costs would be over $800,000! Now contrast that with buying a 160 point Bay Lake Tower contract on the DVC Resale Market for $100 point or $16,000 total and paying dues of $5.05/pt. going up approximately 3.5% a year. That total over the 46 years in a Bay Lake Tower contract would be just over $100,000 and thus a savings of over $700,000!

Sorry for the changes every couple of days, but we confirmed the date of the Hell’s ondine Kitchen episode air date. The Hell’s Kitchen ondine episode that we filmed in September 2013 will actually air next Wednesday, 11/19/14 . I was able to connect to the producer of the show and she verified this is the correct episode. She told me they were trying to add a card at the end of the episode to recognize Lauren, although it is last minute so they aren’t sure it will happen. These people are incredible! If you can, set your DVRs to Hell’s Kitchen Wednesday night 11/19/14.
We have received updated information from Diablo Valley College Lacrosse Team. This is what they posted on their website: “…the 11-1 Vikings will begin preparing for their next game as they host an outstanding Dominican University program led by friend of the program and President of the CJCLA, Matt Blamey during the American Cancer Society Benefit game. The game should be incredibly exciting and emotional for the Vikings after a pregame ceremony that will honor Lauren McCullough, who spoke courageously and eloquently a year ago about her fight with Ewing s sarcoma and inspired the crowd about the importance of living each day to the fullest. Though Lauren passed from us on Sunday, February 2nd, 2014, her parents, Deanne and John will be on hand as we will officially retire the #1 jersey that we issued to her during last year s event. A gold ribbon with the #1 and her initials will forever adorn Viking lacrosse helmets and uniforms, as future Vikings will learn of Lauren, her message, and her importance to Viking Lacrosse and DVC. Lauren’s dad and I are so humbled by the care and affection the DVC Lacrosse Team is showing towards Lauren and her enthusiasm for life and looking at the positive in any situation. The game is being held at DVC on Saturday, 11/15/14 at 7:00 pm in the stadium. Thanks for the sneak peek, Len. WOW, clearly there must be a supply of guests for this market but clearly not even for the 1 percent! I wonder how many nights these bungalows will be empty on any given night?
Totally agree! The real Bora Bora is awesome – save your money and go there. You can feed the fish by sliding your glass coffee table open, you can swim in the warm lagoon, and you may even have breakfast delivered by canoe! Poly DVC for one night is approximately the same price as a 6 or 7 day tour in French Polynesia. Spent my honeymoon there 15 years ago – it’s truly a wonderful and unforgettable place. Poly DVC just cannot compare!
However, after thinking about it overnight, I’d love to bring the family here IFF (if and only if) money were no object! The floor plans look great and the private plunge pool will likely be a fantastic addition. 2yoon

Sorry, but at that price, all I can think about is the fact that it’s just a bunch of hotel rooms built over a brackish swamp. The more expensive and difficult to visit everything at WDW gets, the harder it is to suspend disbelief and actually feel like I could afford to enjoy myself there. 2yoon And this is from a decades-long WDW visitor, and a 7-year resident of central FL. Those prices are just laughable. I agree…go to the real tropics–any real tropics–instead.
While I agree with many that the rental cost per night is extreme, it needs to be considered that these are not really designed as rental 2yoon rooms. And, the DVC points cost is in-line with what a GV at the Grand Floridian would be. So for some points-rich DVC owners, I can see this being a new and different option.
Where the studios are concerned, a lot of folks apparently don’t use the kitchen amenities at other DVC properties, and from what I’ve read, one-bedrooms everywhere are the slowest to book. So I get that DVD is trying a new model where they’ve eliminated those (frankly, we typically 2yoon do 1 brs or 2 brs, and as time as passed, we’re relaxing more at the resorts and only doing special events at the parks, or visit for new ride openings)
For me, I’m not totally convinced I like the trade-off vs. the tons of room that the GVs afford, and the Grand Floridian itself, I can see the appeal of a private plunge pool and the best possible hotel-room view of the fireworks at MK. (Disclosure: We don’t have enough points, at this time, to stay at either the GF 3-bedrooms or the Bungalows for any duration of time that we’d do a Disney 2yoon vacation).
Where I’m netting out: I’m actually happy that DVD did something different at the Poly, even if it’s not EXACTLY thrilling to me at the current time, and doesn’t inspire my family to save and buy more points. One other thing to consider – if it’s popular, I hope it makes it easier for us to get into non-home resorts!
It’s not for everyone, but I would love to stay here and find out for myself. At this point in my life, I don’t like anything 2yoon about beaches except to look at them. Bora Bora or French Polynesia might be less expensive, but I would rather be a Disney World. To each their own.

While Disney World offers a vast variety of different resorts to choose from for guests anna maria island staying on property, the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Villas offer even more options and experiences, particularly when it comes to room sizes! During my last few trips to Disney World, I had the opportunity to enjoy stays at several different DVC Villas; but today, I m zeroing in on Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge in this review of an Animal Kingdom Lodge DVC Deluxe Studio Villa at Kidani Village .
First anna maria island of all, the Disney Vacation Club is Disney s own timeshare program where members purchase and use points for their vacation experiences. It can be difficult to understand, but Disney Vacation Club (DVC) 101: What is DVC? can help fill in the gaps. If you are not a Disney Vacation Club Member, anna maria island the good news is that you can still stay at a DVC Resort! You can do so by booking through Disney, just as you would any other resort; however, other guests like to rent points from a 3rd party or directly from other members. If you chose the latter, we recommend that you go through anna maria island a reputable third party or from a member you know personally (as opposed to a random person on the internet).
My family and I had never stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge before. We had dropped by the resort in years past for a dinner at Boma and to do some exploring, but that was the extent of our experience. However, for many years, we had been hearing from others that Animal Kingdom Lodge was one of the best resorts at Disney World and a big favorite; and so when we got the opportunity to stay a week in a DVC Deluxe Studio Villa at the resort’s Kidani Village, we couldn’t turn down the chance to check it out for ourselves.
During our stay, I quickly learned that Animal Kingdom Lodge is different from other DVC Resorts anna maria island in several ways. In addition to be right next door to Disney’s Animal Kingdom park, Animal Kingdom Lodge is also divided into two separate complexes: Jambo House and Kidani Village .
Jambo House was built first as a non-DVC resort. Part of the building was later converted to DVC villas. Because rooms were converted rather than purpose-built, the villas in Jambo House are slightly smaller than those at Kidani Village. Kidani Village was built as all DVC villas. anna maria island Both resorts anna maria island have studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, and three-bedroom grand villas, but the floor plans differ between the two resorts.
Now there are actually three different savannas at Animal Kingdom Lodge and different animals can be found in each one. However, Kidani Village only has access to two. Giraffes are the only animals that occupy all three. This leads me to the resort’s famed savanna views. A number of villas and standard rooms at both Jambo House and Kidani Village anna maria island offer prime views of the different savannas, meaning your room balcony looks over the space where African wildlife are spending their day! It was also the type of view that my family enjoyed during our stay at Kidani Village; and while each type of villa at Animal Kingdom Lodge has a number of savanna view rooms, do be aware that you will probably pay a little extra for it.
After arriving for check-in at Kidani Village, my family and I quickly discovered a few things that every guest staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge should know. For instance, the resort is more isolated from the rest of Disney World, which some guests enjoy, but others may not. Also, resort guests anna maria island at Kidani Village park in a parking garage located underneath anna maria island the resort. The section of the parking garage you’re assigned to corresponds to the section of the resort where your villa is located. For example, our family car was parked in the Pumbaa Section, and we took an elevator right down to it when we needed anna maria island to use our car. Pretty cool, right?

Even with the heat, many families were standing in line in their holiday finery and heavy winter sweaters for the first DVC Merry Member Mixer of the year. Located at the World Showplace between Canada and the United Kingdom, this event is held during the holiday season for DVC members bonne vacances and their guests. It is a tradition for many families to enjoy holiday bonne vacances cheer at this free event.

Character Meet and Greets: Mickey and Minnie and some of their pals are there all dressed up for the season. On the day we attended, there were three stations one with Mickey and Minnie, one with Chip and Dale, and one with Lilo and Stitch. PhotoPass bonne vacances photographers are on hand to take pictures, and then you can download them for free from My Disney Experience.
Merchandise for Sale: In years past, there have been a wide variety of holiday bonne vacances offerings and DVC merchandise for sale. This year, there was a limited amount of holiday offerings, and aside from the pins for sale, I did not see any DVC-exclusive merchandise. The pins available for sale are two DVC member-exclusive pins, an Annual Passholder pin, and two limited release pins (available at this event before they went on sale to the general public).
Holiday Crafts: Located near the back (away from the stage) is the kids craft areas. There are several offerings to make your own ornament or items to color and decorate. If you re running short on time, you can pick up a craft or two and take them with you.
If you know that you want to meet Mickey and Minnie, that needs to be your first stop once you enter the World Showplace. Once you receive your vouchers for your free treat and entry into the drawing for the DVC gift basket, proceed right to the line for Mickey and Minnie. (You can fill out your prize drawing slips while you wait in line and drop them off on your way out. The drawing happens after the end of the event, so there s no rush to get the slips into the hopper.) Lines for them will be longer bonne vacances than any other character, and they will shut the lines early.
At that point, stop by the merchandise area if you want to purchase limited edition bonne vacances pins or other holiday items, stop by the kids craft area, grab some drink (and your free treat if you haven t already), and enjoy the fun on the dance floor. There are some neat prizes for the kids on the dance floor in games like hula hoop contests or Simon Says, so if you have kids and don t feel the need for character meet and greets, those are a lot of fun.
On your way out, make sure to drop your raffle bonne vacances ticket into the hopper for a chance to win a DVC gift basket and then stop at the exit to get your free ornament. This year s ornament is a train, and one is available per family. It is a great collectible, and you can t beat the (lack of) price.

We went a few years ago and are resale buyers. Your DVC membership card doesn’t note how you purchased and that is all they look at. Resale restrictions are just on use of points. Once a DVC member they don’t seem to discriminate with perks.
We got in line for Mickey and Minnie at around 10 after 3, and it was about a 15 minute wait. By the time we got out of line, it looked like it was going to be a 30 minute bonne vacances wait. At any time after 4 PM, they can (and sometimes do) shut off the line if it looks too long, so if getting photos with characters is on your must-do list, I’d make sure to be there no later than 4 PM and get in line right away. But if you don’t feel the need to get your photo taken with characters, there’s no rush to arrive.

The Diablo Valley College Lacrosse game that benefited the American Cancer Society was a tremendous event. The team is inspirational and won in sudden death overtime. Hell s Kitchen was an excellent show on the night Lauren was in attendance. helston To watch the show and see clips of Lauren enjoying her night was awesome! The clips come quickly, so watch for when we enter the dining room at the beginning of dinner service. Lauren enters first, followed closely by mom, then dad and the Dream Foundation representative, Dawn Reid.
The next clips are of the four of us at the table being served our dinner entrees, with Lauren front and center. Then a quick clip of Lauren s first bite of her beef wellington. If you run the clip in slo-mo, you can see Lauren roll her eyes upward helston as she savors the bite. Truly Lauren at her finest foodie moment. At the last minutes, Hell s Kitchen added a tribute to Lauren and included the photo of Lauren with Gordon Ramsay. It s the last shot of the episode, after the previews to the next week s episode. I am not one to usually comment, and unfortunately I found this page months after Lauren passed on, but I feel compelled to reach out and speak up if Lauren has any loved ones reading this. I just wanted to assure helston you that Laurens legacy and this blog definitely continues to live on and affect lives. Mine as well. I find myself reading Laurens blog several times a day. I even told my husband that I call Laurens blog my “comfort page” when I’m going thru my psych problems and feel depressed or all alone. I do feel a tremendous amount of comfort when I get lost in her words. She truly is an inspiration and I can honestly say she’s touched my life in such a profound way, that I’ll never be the same again. My heart goes out to all of you

Good news for those of you who are looking into purchasing DVC at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. You may begin to do so soon! Sales for the Disney Vacation Club property go on sale for current Disney DVC members on January 12. They’ll then go on sale for everyone else beginning February 9 .
The 20 Bungalows, vrbo which are located directly on the Seven Seas Lagoon, will be able to sleep up to 8 and will feature a plunge pool and will have a spectacular Magic Kingdom view that is perfect for catching the evening fireworks. These two-bedroom bungalows vrbo will feature a home-like vrbo setting reminiscent of the South Pacific. vrbo Each of the bungalow vrbo have two full bathrooms, vrbo a kitchen, washer and dryer, and large dining and living room spaces. vrbo The decor will combine modern style with the tropical look that the Polynesian is known for.
There will also be 360 Deluxe Studio Villas in the longhouses. These rooms will sleep up to 5 and can be connected to another Deluxe Studio room. These rooms will feature a kitchenette, enhanced storage space, and two separate bathroom areas – one a full bathroom with a tub/shower and another one with a shower and sink. In addition, vrbo there will be a pull-down armoire bed in each room that showcases artwork from the film, Lilo & Stitch .
Disney also shared concept art of the brand new Lava Pool area. This enhanced feature pool will continue to feature a volcano rock formation featuring a beautiful waterfall and a kid’s water play area featuring a slide.
Disney s Polynesian Village Resort has been undergoing an extensive vrbo refurbishment to enhance the experience for those guests staying at the hotel, as well as for those new DVC members. On January 6, 2015 Disney Vacation Club will be raising the prices of all their sold out resorts. For most of the resorts it will be a $5 per point increase but for Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk and Beach Club the price increase will be $25 per point. This news comes just weeks after DVC ended the $5 and $7 per point discounts on all sold resorts. With the elimination of the discounts and the price increases some of the resorts will see as much as a $32 per point price swing in just a few weeks time.
